Honor Your Chapter or Club for a lifetime

Your or your alumnae chapter/club may establish an endowed scholarship or named trust fund with the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. Along with supporting the unrestricted area of the Foundation, you can also put your fund-raising dollars toward your own endowed fund.

A scholarship/educational trust fund may be established with any amount of money as long as the donor(s) commits to fulfilling the pledge by the end of five years. The pledge amount would be $10,000 for an undergraduate scholarship, and $25,000 for a graduate scholarship. The fund must meet the minimum balance before it begins to distribute grants. Scholarships of less than $1,000 annually will be awarded every two years instead of every year.

A named trust fund can also be established with any amount of money as long as the donor(s) commit to fulfillment within five years. The fund balance minimum is $25,000. The Named Trust program has a broader grant-making impact than our scholarship funds, such as providing leadership opportunities to Theta members. Named Trusts can also honor or immortalize your favorite Theta or organization.

Foundation named funds are invested and managed by an Investment Committee with professional investment advisers and management. Awards are calculated by using a spending rule that allows 5.5% of the average market value over a three-year period. Remaining earnings are added to the principal balance so that the fund continues to grow and remain meaningful into the future.

The donor(s) may name the fund and establish the selection criteria. The Foundation will assume all administrative burdens associated with accepting and acknowledging the tax-deductible gifts to the fund, as well as all management and reporting required with the grant-making process.
