Santa Barbara Alumnae fd.1950

Our Alumnae Chapter includes 310 members from 70 colleges initiated in the years from 1926 to 1997. We have 86 members who wear 50 year plus pins and 4 mother-daughter legacies. We have teachers, doctors, designers, dental assistants, lawyers, accountants, manicurists, a dancer, an actress, an innkeeper and a judge. We are wives, mothers, grandmothers, widows, sisters, girlfriends, cousins and nieces. We have seen each other through marriages, babies, divorces, illnesses, accidents and death. We have hugged in glee, held hands in grief; shared laughter, frustration, fears and dreams and accomplishments. We are various political parties and religions, share disparate social views and are a myriad of nationalities. Above all we share the Link of Kappa Alpha Theta membership. However dim the memory, however far away the contact, we all remember the black and gold.

Last year we celebrated 50 years of Santa Barbara Alumnae membership. To each of you who have worked hard to keep our group active---to those who have paid dues,held an office, addressed envelopes, worked on a fashion show, organized rummage, served on Advisory Board, helped with House Corporation, attended a Founders' day, purchased a Poinsettia, baked an angel food cake, filled a CASA gift bag, or attended Lunch Bunch---we Thank you!!!! You are the reason we are here today and the reason we will be here tomorrow, reaching out to each other and our community, standing for all that is good and noble in womanhood.

To all of you and to the charter members and the Alpha Theta Chi's who began it all, we give gratitude for you inspiration, dedication and belief in the concept of sisterhood.
